Obama Caught In The Crosshairs of Bigotry and Hate

The disturbing image above was on the cover of a Roswell, GA. newsletter called The Beacon.  The image caused an uproar.  The publishers  were quickly aware of their mistake and made this comment (in part):

The cover story for the May 15, 2008 issue of the Beacon featured an investigative report entitled White Supremacy Groups Threatened by Obama Candidacy. The report brought to our community’s attention the need for law enforcement to prepare for a possible Obama backlash by organized hate groups operating in our area.

Unfortunately, the image on the cover overshadowed the seriousness of the story and that is regrettable. Again, we apologize to anyone or any group that was offended.  We understand how just by looking at the cover one can jump to conclusions, and we are very sorry for that.

We are comfortable with the Roswell Beacon’s concern and hold them to no accountability since they were trying to bring home a point about hate groups who do NOT want to see a Black man in the “White House”.

One can conclude that hate groups operate on ignorance and malice toward anyone who does not fit their agenda.  However what is the excuse with people who are supposedly responisible and upstanding public figures who imply such things?

There were THREE, count ’em THREE times in the span of ten days,  where Barack Hussein Obama has been the recipient of two jokes which raised the eyebrows of many people.

Three times in ten days.  Ex presidential candidate Mike Huckabee made a joke while addressing the NRA recently.  Then someone named Liz Trotta was even worse in her “attempt at humor” saying:  “now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama, um, Obama — well, both, if we could.”   More on Trotta’s comment here

Last but not least was the remark by Hillary Clinton while making her case to remain in the current primary race for the presidency.

“My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right?” Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton said to the editorial board of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader in South Dakota. “We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.”

Three times in ten days.  That statistic is extremely troublesome.  Couple that with a statement on an unnamed blog by a woman who stated:

“Actually Hillary wasn’t too far off base. I seen these KKK’s on TV saying they would kill Obama if he was made president.”

One would wonder if that person picked up the phone and called the FBI, if in fact what she saw was a televison show and not her own twisted fantasy (which I am inclined to believe is the latter).

Here are the links to the three incidents I alluded to in the beginning of this post:
