Waxman Waxes Issa!
Hats off to Senator Henry Waxman, Chairman of the Government Oversight Committee. Mr. Waxman had to endure the bullying tactics of the Republican Party for twelve years. In that time Waxman still held hearings but the Republicans made sure his hearings were held in the basement and that they were not official hearings.
Now that the Dems have been in power for two years, the tide has changed. Most Republicans still think they can bully the Dems who have been so darned weak throughout those twelve years and even within their two year reign.
Waxman was trying to clarify something that the head of the EPA Stephen Johnson had just said to another Congressman who was questioning Johnson. Darryl Issa who had JUST walked in started bullying Waxman into a cessation of the questioning by asking for rules of order. Waxman waxes Issa’s butt.

Remember when Sensenbrenner just got up and walked out of a Patriot Act hearing–which he was chairing–when Democrats began raising questions about human rights? He told CSpan to shut down, turned off the lights, etc. It’s my hope that more Congressional Democrats will begin to assert themselves like Waxman.
Yes, I wanted to put that example in the post mpandgs, but it would have gotten too wordy. That incident incensed a lot of people. Hence the 2006 mid term election results.
That was awesome. My God…why do they have these hearings when the respondent doesn’t answer ANYTHING? What did you talk about? Many matters..but I’m not telling…Hello…this is a democracy!
